I really wish that A Blind Bargain was available. That one looks REALLY neat! Chaney in a dual role as mad doctor and manimal creation in what appears to be a loose adaption of The Island of Dr....

Please correct my memory here, but it seems to me that at the very beginning of the credits (I am a huge credits reader to the annoyance of friends) there was a reference to THE MONSTER being a...

Re: THE MONSTER (1925)

If you throw away almost everything that happens before our heroes arrive at the old hospital, this holds up pretty well. Chaney seems to be enjoying himself immensely in this film. Ziska's "ticks" on...

Re: THE MONSTER (1925)

I agree that Chaney seems to be having a good time in the role of Dr.Ziska...this certainly has some high points for a semi-horror comedy. The concept of transplanting souls, as Ziska seems to be...

Just watched this again and I love the film.  I can see Chaney fans not liking it due to his limited screen time.  What makes the film for me are the great sets and the lighting.  I also like Johnny...

I was hoping a thread had been started on this film. I saw this at our last Sons of the Desert meeting (Halloween show, in case you thought the genre was a little off for a SOTD meeting). I liked it a...

Re: THE MONSTER (1925)

The 1922 play was somewhat different from the movie version. Instead of the henchman Rigo, Ziska is assisted by a faceless and legless menace played by Charles Ray Wallace, a forty-nine year old actor...
